Sejarah Peristiwa Bandung Lautan Api

Mengenal sejarah Indonesia, salah satunya ada peristiwa Bandung Lautan Api. Peristiwa yang terjadi di tanah Pasundan itu berawal dari pertempuran antara para pemuda dan TKR melawan tentara Jepang pada bulan September dan Oktober 1945.

Pada tanggal 9 Oktober 1945, pertempuran yang terjadi antara rakyat Bandung dan TKR melawan tentara Jepang dapat diselesaikan dengan damai. Rakyat Bandung dan TKR berhasil mendapatkan senjata dari pabrik senjata dan mesiu di Kiaracondong.

Akan tetapi, bersamaan dengan itu datanglah tentara sekutu memasuki Kota Bandung pada tanggal 21 Oktober 1945. Kedatangan pasukan sekutu itu membuat suasana Kota Bandung menjadi tegang. Pertempuran-pertempuran kecil pun tak terhindarkan.

Ketika pasukan sekutu merasa terdesak, sekutu memberika ultimatum agar seluruh rakyat Bandung paling lambat tanggal 29 November 1945, pukul 12 untuk meninggalkan Bandung Utara. Namun, sampai batas waktu yang ditentukan, rakyat Bandung tidak mematuhinya.

Pada tanggal 24 Maret 1946, sekutu mengeluarkan ultimatum lagi agar rakyat Bandung meninggalkan Kota Bandung. Namun, lagi-lagi ultimatum itu tidak digubris. Akibatnya, pertempuran pun tak dapat dihindarkan. Ribuan orang mulai meninggalkan Kota Bandung. Tentara Republik Indonesia sengaja membakar gedung-gedung pemerintahan yang terdapat di Kota Bandung. Maksudnya, agar sekutu tidak dapat menggunakannya lagi. Asap membumbung tinggi. Kota Bandung menjadi lautan api.
